Hi, I am Capt. Denver Sanner, I have been on the water my entire life. I grew up on Martins Cove located near White Hall Bay and Annapolis, MD. I have spent many years on the Chesapeake Bay. I remember my father taking me crabbing for the first time when I was around 4 years old. He owned an 18’ skiff that he pushed along the shorelines dipping for crabs. As I grew older I began working for the local watermen, such as Jimmy Cantler who owns the famous “Cantler’s Restaurant”, Capt. Francis James, crab house and Leo James.My jobs were to run trout lines, delivering crabs, steaming crabs, making crabs nets, hanging fish gill nets and much more. Because of my love and knowledge of the water, I began operating many Oyster and Crab boats for the Cantler’s and James over my 14 year period. My time spent as a commercial waterman taught me great respect for the bay. It was hard work a not always did it pay well.

I left the commercial waterman life in 1984 and took a job at Gibson Island Club located off the Magothy River. Currently, I am the Harbor Master, Facilities Manager and Safety Director there, and still going strong. I am looking forward to helping out my son on the Samatha Belle with charters and cruises on the bay. I am always looking for a good excuse to be on the water!
